Reposting something from Mastodon to make up for not updating the other night.

Today is my birthday. I am a superhero in my own right but it has nothing to do with alliterative names. My name isn't alliterative. Rather I am a superhero by chance being born on a day that is the same number as my month. Sure people can cheat namijg their kids Kevin Carter or Spencer Stevens but it's a crapshoot. The fates may smile or scoff. But month-day annumeration, on the other hand, is a horse of a different color.
Can't fake that stuff, nosiree. As for my superpower? Maybe it is writing. One thing is certain women are my kryptonite. You can call me Todd. Todd Bazinsky. Been online for 30 years and I have the girth to prove it. All day today I felt Calliope coming up behind me and wrapping her arms around my shoulders to tease me. I was at work and couldn't really write, but my memory is respectable tbqh.

the cover to the better angels tour de force. it features a young woman with blue hair on the left side of the cover in futuristic combat fatigues. ont he right is a young woman with pink hair wearing a magical girl outfit. they are on the bridge of a spaceship stading among control panels. behind them is a boxer dog sitting in the center and a large pink boa constrictor is looming protectively over the boxer dog.

I am at my favorite watering hole, Johnny Mac's in Asbury Park, and reading The Better Angels Tour de Force by Steven D. Brewer. It is a delight and Steven's imagination and writing style are remarkable. A weaker writer would give one whiplash going from sweet and wholesome to R-rated, but Stephen easily crafts a narrative like riding a roller coaster where the shifts are natural.
I am enjoying his easy style and characters, not to mention oddities spicing up the stories. Please read Stephen's writing, and maybe reach out to your favorite anime studio to see if they will adapt The Better Angels.
Honest I haven't finished the book but I am inclined to sing these praises and I will probably check out Revin's Heart soon based upon the Better Angels. Also his #vss365 toots featuring the Better and Butter Angels.
Kinda hoping the little Revin's Heart fanfic I wrote here is still around. It's the one where airship pirates are on vacation and hang out with the titular character on a beach.

p.s. i made up 'annumeration'

my fanfic for revin's heart

Steven Brewer also writes a series of steampunk-y novels about a trans airship pirate named Revin. I saw him post a lot about it on Mastodon and 137 days ago I decided to write a fanfic based on what little I read on the social media platform.

A shadow crawled across the shoreline, the chugging of its engine and clatter of geras struggling to drown out the crashing tide with black smoke coughing everywhere. "Pirates!" cried Revin as he reached for his gun. A great anchor splashed into the water followed by a cascade of ropes. "How did they find me?" went through Revin's head as sweat rolled down into his eyes. Things were about to turn bad.

Really bad.

Moments alter hardened criminals of the high seas rappelled down, splashing in the water whereupon the largest of their compliment shouted, "Don't worry, we're on vacation too!"
The gun fell into the water as Revin had no response.
"Pirating is hard work," laughed the giant. "We have lots of paid time off and good benefits. Maybe you should consider joining us?" Dapper Dan of the airship Never Forget knew Revin would be an asset for him and his crew.
