I feel a little less frantic about going to school online. I played hooky, caught up on assignments and familiarized myself with the system. Also I submitted an application for a part-time position at the university in hopes of it becoming full time permanent, establising a measure of security for myself. Finally I decided I am going to make Summer Isle Burn work for me and not miss out on it. Should I miss out, I reckon I'll try Constellation Burn in October.

haiku

Last Friday the 2nd I wrote four haiku while waiting for the start of Poor Things and shared them on Mastodon. Notable about these haiku is they tell a story.

leaves crunch underfoot
the swift rabbit unaware
mourning doves take flight

scarlet stains on snow
black birds circling overhead
the kits will eat well

a burrow grows cold
sunset burns the horizon
hungry bunnies wait

dawn breaks like thin ice
warm bodies now cold like night
a burrow burial

Only source of confusion for people is the fact baby rabbits are called "kittens" and baby foxes are "kits". The story is a fox caught a rabbit, but the rabbit's young went hungry and cold in the ensuing winter night.
